As you are probably aware, effective July 6, 2004, Medicare non-HIPAA compliant electronic claims submissions will be paid the same as paper claims: No sooner than twenty-seven days from the date of receipt. HIPAA compliant electronic claims will be eligible to be paid on the fourteenth day from date of receipt. This is a tremendous difference that can improve your cash flow by 50%!!

Notice:
As of April 1, 2004, when submitting to Medicare you must make sure that Box 32 on the CMS (HCFA) 1500 is populated with place of service address.
